Walk with me through this tunnel provided by ancient cypress trees at Pt Reyes National Seashore. Take a step through a green canopy that protects and guides you. Welcome!
I am working on a series of tree portraits. It started one day as I hurried to my local park to breathe and escape from the news. Then I saw Scream Tree.

I saw Scream Tree on a day when I felt that way. And there was Scream Tree, making me laugh, reminding me that trees and nature would comfort me in the worst of times. After Scream, the hunt was on. Are there more trees that could communicate with me? Here is my collection.

Old Man in the Tree appeared on a day when I was fumbling, walking through a redwood forest, working hard to find a shot. Then not finding one, I turned a corner of the path and there was Old Man in the Tree. He’s been there for hundreds of years and has many stories to share if you have time to listen.

Did you ever feel like, in yoga or in life, that your limbs were hopelessly entangled, like a knot in the yarn? Yoga tree understands.

Marriage tree remains strong, two trees that support and sustain each other. Where one is tall and upright, the other one curves around it, in a woody embrace. They cannot live without each other.

Dancer Tree stands proudly with an awkward stance, with obvious grace and beauty.

And then there are the ode trees, the trees that pay homage to wildfire destruction. Big Basin State Park burned in a horrendous wildfire in 2020. The redwoods survived and are growing, but the forest is irreversibly changed. This ICM image serves as an ode to the loss.
As you probably have deduced, trees are one of my favorite subjects. You can see more in my portfolio, under Tree Portraits.
