Yosemite Light and Reflection

Sometimes I look at memes on Facebook and there are some that I like. For example, I liked this one: "There are two places you need to go often: The place that heals you. The place that inspires you." One place can do both. That's the Sierra Nevada mountains for me!

I had an inspirational and healing week at Yosemite in March. The valley was very pleasant that week and amazingly uncrowded. One day was cloudy and then the rest were sunny. There had been a few days of warmth so the snow had melted in the valley and snow melt fed the waterfalls. All were engorged.

Horsetail Falls off El Capitan is famous for the "firefall" effect in late February. I was able to see a similar scene and there was no gaggle of photographers!

As usual there were light shifts and other inspiring phenomena. First time I've seen the rainbow along the Mist Trail. This is not a perfect image but I am happy to have it!
There was Half Dome and Mirror Half Dome.

And many more entrancing reflections at Mirror Lake. I could capture reflections forever!

I sat in total awe by the Merced River for an hour. The large waterfalls were crashing in a hazy mist, but I captured a small portion at the base of Vernal Falls.

Truly my happy place! I am so grateful for its beauty.
