Waterfalls are special to me. In college I loved rivers (I still do). I paddled the whitewater of Georgia and North Carolina. It was big, fast, powerful water. Not for me now, though. But I've become entranced by waterfall photography (I know, it's a bit cliche, but there's a reason it's so popular!) . Here are a few favorites.

Lone Pine Creek, Whitney Portal
I won't make it up Mt Whitney in this life, although I've hiked to Lone Pine Lake 3 miles up (and down) several times. But an added attraction is Lone Pine Creek flowing proudly through the base of the trail. Can you hear it gurgle?
Are you wondering, do all waterfall images have to be mono? I say no!

Over Thanksgiving I hiked in the Columbia River Gorge. Such amazing waterfalls. For a waterfall lover, this is nirvana.

Shepherds Dell is a smaller falls, but unique and accessible by a historic path next to a historic bridge. I can't decide about this image of the Falls at Shepherd's Dell. The mono is great. But so is the color!

Waterfalls create ionized air as the water slides down the hill and rocks. This air is both rejuvenating and invigorating. It's magical too. Waterfalls soothe all senses with their bubbles and currents, gushes and gurgles, and sheer vibrance.

They are mystery and the known, force and acquiescence. Movement and stillness.
